A Shopper's Paradise

The Town of St. Michaels is just a short walk from The Inn. We would be happy to drive you into town in the courtesy van or you can ride one of the bikes into town.

The shops are open from approximately 9 am to about 5 pm. Saturday nights some of the shops stay open later and contain a variety of unusual gifts. There are some clothiers located on Talbot Street as well.

Notable shops are:

  1. Artiste Locale, 410-745-6580, 112 N Talbot St - local artisans provide an ever-changing selection of paintings, pottery, jewelry, baskets and much more.
  2. B's Stitches, 410-745-6146, 209 N. Talbot St - fine needlecrafts, hundreds of hand-painted needlepoint canvases, a wide variety of silks, cotton and metallic fibers and supplies.
  3. Calico Gallery, 410-745-5370, 212 S. Talbot St - charming Eastern Shore gallery in center of town featuring a wide selection of waterfowl and Bay area prints, cards, delightful music and gifts. Unique toy store upstairs.

All decoys have a guaranteed description, including maker, age and condition. Open Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm.

The antique shops offer a very good to fine quality range of items and most are located on Harrison Street between Dover and Goldsborough Streets. The shops are:

  1. Callaghan & Partners, 410-819-5800, 29 S. Harrison St
  2. Easton Maritime Antiques, 410-763-8853, 27 S. Harrison St
  3. Fanto Antiques, 410-763-9030, 13 N. Harrison St
  4. Flo-Mir, Ltd., 410-822-2857, 23 East Dover St
  5. Lanham Hall Design, 410-822-5040, 23 N. Harrison St
  6. There are three others on Harrison and Dover Streets, all worth hunting through.

If you are a little more adventurous and don't mind looking there are two "antiques/collectibles" stores on Route 50: Foxwell's (on Route 50 between Dutchman's Lane and Idlewild Avenue). This is a co-op store and offers many interesting "finds". Many of our guests have gone hunting there and have returned with their prized trophies.

South of Easton (about 11 miles) in the town of Cambridge is a nest of antiques stores just off Route 50 and located in a large old industrial loft building. If you are interested in searching for some great finds, we will give you directions.

There are also four excellent art galleries adjacent to the intersection of Dover and Harrison Streets: Troika, Lu-Ev, Grafton and on South Street is the South Street Gallery.

And, if you are in Talbot County on the first Friday of the month, then consider the "Gallery Walk" tour in the evening from 5 to 9 pm. This is a wonderful activity during which the Art and Antique galleries remain open for the evening and many serve hors d'ouevres and beverages. The galleries are located in the center of Easton and there is plenty of free parking in the area.

The Prime Outlets at Queenstown is a fun way of shopping for bargain prices. Located approximately 25 minutes north of Easton off Route 50, it has a good variety of stores and not just shoes or women’s clothing. There is an excellent gourmet shop at the far West end with a good Deli and wine shop, The Book Cellar (discounted books) and there is a good selection of home accessories as well. Behind the Outlets (On the North side) is a large industrial building, JR’s Antiques Mall, with an excellent collection of antique stalls in a co-op selling space. This is a real find and has some excellent items.

And, if you haven’t had enough shopping along Route 1, north of Rehoboth has an assembly of one of the largest factory outlets on the East Coast.

Shop 'til you drop!
