Water Tours |
There are a variety of water tours (seasonal availability) as well as fishing charters.
The Let It Ride tour is approximately $65/person and leaves from our wharf at the Inn, beginning at 10 am and leaving every two hours. The sunset tour leaves approximately at 7:30 pm.
The Selina II is an antique, restored catboat that leaves from St. Michaels Harbour Inn. Tours are approximately 2.5 hours. The cost is approximately $70/person. Sunset cruises leave at 5:30 pm and return at approximately 7:30 pm. The Selina II holds six people.
The Herman Krentz, Skipjack, usually sails from the St. Michaels Harbour Inn and holds up to 25 people. This is a restored rare, antique workboat, originally built for the watermen of the Chesapeake Bay. Captain Farley is experienced and well versed in the sailing of this boat and knows the interesting stories and facts about the Miles River and the Bay. Cost is approximately $30/person, and the tour last approximately two hours. |

The Patriot Cruises leave from The Crab Claw restaurant, within walking distance of The Inn. Learn about the history of Talbot County, view historic homes, waterfowl and the watermen who harvest the blue crabs, clams and oysters.The boat is a double-decker, with an open top deck and glass enclosed main deck. Cruises run daily at 11:00am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm and 4:00pm and charters available for special events.

Other tours and sport fishing charters are available, but usually require advance notice. There are a few "open boat" sport fishing charters that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. These charters usually leave very early in the morning, usually are inclusive of bait and tackle and may include box lunches and refreshments. Fishing charters usually last four hours. Be prepared to be out in the weather (good or bad) with proper attire and sun protection.
One company which offers hunting, sporting clays and fishing is Pintail Point (or call 410-827-7029) on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
A great way to see the sea (actually the Delaware Bay at the mouth of the Delaware River between Delaware and New Jersey) is to plan a crossing on the Cape May/Lewes Ferry. It crosses the Delaware Bay to Cape May, New Jersey and back to Delaware on an hourly schedule.
Skipjack Rebecca T. Ruark (the oldest skipjack - 1886), sails Spring through December from Tilghman Island. She is the oldest working skipjack of a vanishing fleet that is declared one of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. Contact Captain Wade H. Murphy, Jr on 410-886-2176.
The Chesapeake Lights, Lighthouse Tours at Tilghman Island offer a voyage of discovery aboard the M/V Sharps Island, on excursions that take you back through the storied history of the Chesapeake Bay and its lighthouses.
