From everyone at The Inn at Perry Cabin, we are delighted to share with our guests the many pleasures of life on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
The historic town of St. Michaels dates back to the birth of the colonies. During the War of 1812, St. Michaels became an important shipbuilding center of privateers, blockade runners and naval barges, leading British naval forces to shell the town and attack a fort on the harbor side. One famous story recalled local residents hoisted lanterns atop masts and trees. This caused the British cannons to overshoot the town and thus creating St. Michaels' famous moniker, "The town that fooled the British."
Today, tranquility prevails. Quaint shops and galleries line Talbot Street and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum celebrates the unique maritime history of the region. Boats from kayaks to luxury yachts ply the waters, and anglers from sport fishers to our local watermen probe its depths
for a catch that includes Maryland's famous blue crab, oysters and rockfish.
The Inn at Perry Cabin and the town of St. Michaels has so much to offer guests and visitors.
We hope to see you soon.
