Carol Woodin is one of the most outstanding botanical artists working in the USA.  She became a full-time botanical artist in 1990 and has had two solo exhibitions.  Carol specializes in painting orchids and has won major awards both in the USA and the UK. Her work is held at the Hunt Institute, at Kew, the American Orchid Society and in many private collections.  Carol taught our first orchid painting class in Peru in 2005.

Guests will arrive at their leisure throughout the day. 

The Inn at Perry Cabin is located in the historic village of St. Michaels.  Accessible by a leisurely stroll or bicycle ride, St. Michaels offers a wide array of dining options as well a fabulous boutique shops, antique shops and galleries.  Exploration of this quaint village is not complete without visiting the historic homes and gardens that line the streets along the harbor.

6:30pm: Commence your quest into botanical study and St. Michaels’ unique history by meeting your classmates and instructor, Carol Woodin, for a cocktail reception followed by dinner.  Weather permitting; the reception will take place in the gardens, providing students with inspiration for their artistic journey.  Following the reception, guests will be invited to enjoy a special “Tasting of the Chesapeake” prepared by Master Chef Mark Salter served in one of our private dining rooms. 

Monday, May 12, 2008

7am – 8:30am: Enjoy Breakfast in Sherwood’s Landing while taking in the early morning views of the majestic Miles River. 

8:30am - 12pm: The first morning of painting with your Ms. Woodin will take place in the Lawrence Room. 

Beverages will be available in the painting room throughout the day, with an afternoon snack and tea brought to the room each afternoon. 

12pm-1:30pm: Lunch will be served in Sherwood’s Landing

1:30 pm-2:30 pm: Following Lunch, meet The Inn’s gardener, Joanne Effinger for a private tour of the gardens, greenhouse and estate. 

2:30pm - 4pm: Painting class continues with Carol Woodin.

Dinner is on you own and at your leisure this evening.  Reservations for Sherwood’s Landing are recommended.  For a casual meal, enjoy our pub menu in the Purser’s Pub or our Concierge can assist with reservations at area restaurants.

7am – 8:30am:  Breakfast at your leisure in the restaurant, Sherwood’s Landing.

8:30 am – 12pm: Morning painting session in the Lawrence Room with Carol Woodin.

12pm-1:30pm: Lunch will be served at the restaurant, Sherwood’s Landing.

1:30pm – 4pm: Afternoon painting session in Lawrence Room with Carol Woodin. 

4:30pm: Departure from The Inn at Perry Cabin’s private dock aboard a private launch for an evening Sunset Cruise on the Miles River.  Enjoy sipping a glass of wine or other beverage while enjoying the views of historic homes, flora and fauna indigenous to the Chesapeake Bay region.

6:00pm: Return to The Inn at Perry Cabin dock for an evening dinner on your own.

7am – 8:30am: Breakfast at your leisure in Sherwood’s Landing.
 
8:30am – 12pm: Morning painting session in the Lawrence Room with Carol Woodin.

12pm – 1:30: Lunch will be served at the restaurant, Sherwood’s Landing.

This afternoon is reserved for guests to relax and enjoy The Linden Spa.  Our Linden Spa practices “the botanical art of wellness” perfectly suited to complement your “botanical painting journey.”  Included in your package is our “Botanical Complex Facial”.  At the time of booking your package, we will assist you with reservations in our spa for your afternoon appointment. 

Botanical Complex Facial
A treatment of natural herbs and flowers is customized to your skin type and applied to the face to promote exfoliation, nourish the tissue, even out skin tone, reduce fine lines and restore a youthful glow. 

For those wishing to experience a different treatment, a spa credit will be issued in lieu of the facial treatment.

7am – 8:30am: Breakfast at your leisure in Sherwood’s Landing

8:30am – 12pm: Morning painting session in the Lawrence Room with Carol Woodin.

12pm – 1:30pm: Luncheon will be served in the restaurant Sherwood’s Landing.

1:30pm – 3:00pm: Depart from The Inn for a private guided tour of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.  The museum which opened in 1965 is dedicated to furthering an interest in, understanding of, and appreciation for the culture and maritime heritage of the Chesapeake Bay and its environs.

On permanent display at this waterfront museum is the nation's most complete collection of Chesapeake Bay artifacts, visual arts, and indigenous water craft. Interpretive exhibitions and programs cover the range of Chesapeake Bay maritime history and culture-including Native-American life, Anglo-American settlement, seventeenth- and eighteenth-century trans-Atlantic trade, naval history, the Bay's unique watercraft and boat building traditions, navigation, water fowling, boating, seafood harvesting, and recreation.

3:00 – 4:30pm: Return to the Lawrence Room as the afternoon painting session continues with Carol Woodin.

Enjoy dinner on your own this evening.  For a casual “Eastern shore experience” consider a dinner at the Crab Claw restaurant.  Long a St. Michael’s tradition, enjoy fresh steamed crabs literally poured out on your table while sitting waterside along the Miles River.

8:30am – 12pm: Morning painting session in the Lawrence Room with Carol Woodin.

12pm – 1:30pm: Lunch will be served in the restaurant, Sherwood’s Landing.

1pm – 4:30pm: Return to the Lawrence Room for your final painting session with Carol Woodin. 

6:30 pm: Join your fellow artists and your instructor, Carol Woodin for a farewell reception and gourmet dinner served in one of The Inn’s private dining rooms.
